Sleeping Position
Knowing how you sleep can help you immensely in your search for a great pillow. Softie offers pillows various pillow sizes from ultra-thin (1" thickness) to high pillows (3" thickness). Use our guide to determine which pillow is most suitable for you!
Side Sleeper
Sleeping on the side is the most common type of sleeping position people adopt. If snoring or sleep apnea is a problem, we recommend adopting this position instead of sleeping on the back to decrease the frequency of that happening. Side sleeping is great for pregnant women as it decreases the pressure that may occur from back sleeping. Sleeping on the left side of the body can also decrease instances of acid reflux or heat-burn. Depending on your build, a medium or high height down pillow should provide the support you seek . If your frame is especially small, you can also consider getting a low pillow.
BACK SLEEPER
Sleeping on your back is one of the best sleeping positions for your body. This is due to the fact that all of your body weight is equally distributed onto the mattress, your internal organs are completely aligned, and the position allows your mattress to support your spine. We recommend choosing a low or medium pillow to provide adequate support for your neck and spine throughout the night.
Stomach Sleeper
The stomach sleeper is a great way to decrease the amount of snoring and to control sleep apnea, but it is not the best position to sleep in if you ask doctors. The position flattens the natural curve in your spine and because you have to turn your head to on side, it can lead to straining the muscles on your neck. We recommend our thin pillows to gradually change from a stomach sleeping position to a side sleeping position
Toss And Turn
There are a variety of factors that can determine why you would toss and turn a lot during the night. It may be because of your mattress, or that some people move around a lot, or it could be that it is time to change your pillow . We recommend trying different size pillows to see what you are most comfortable with, but if that is not an option, our medium height pillow can accommodate most sleeping positions.
Size and build
Your size and build can affect which pillows you choose:
If you have a small frame or narrow shoulders, choose a size down from our recommendations, if you happen to have a relatively large frame or wider shoulders like an athlete, choose a larger size from current recommendations.
Firmness
Down pillows tend to be very soft and easy to push down. Although they absorb weight and return to their original shape fairly quickly, some people find that down pillows are still too soft to their liking. If this is the case, we recommend trying a memory foam pillow as it is a great pillow for firmer support. Unfortunately, Softie does not carry a line of memory foam pillows, please visit other websites or department stores to find one.
Allergies or Sensitivity
There are very few cases of allergies resulting from duck or goose down feather products. If you are suffering from allergies as a result of using a down feather product, please stop using it immediately. You may need to use products made from synthetic materials instead, such as our latex allergy free pillow . However, approximately one in ten people are sensitive to odours being emitted by duck down feathers and you may need to use goose down feather products instead.
